Few fields innovate at the breakneck pace of cosmetic treatments, and this year is no exception.
2019 has seen its share of breakthroughs. A surprising number are non-invasive, or even entirely non-surgical! We’re looking at body sculpting techniques pulled straight from science fiction.
If you’re looking into cosmetic treatments, you’re not alone. There were over 17 million procedures done in the United States last year alone.
Read on to learn more about the medical advances and treatment trends that are keeping humanity looking younger (and hotter) than ever this fall and winter.
1. The Secret Facelift
The temporal facelift or ‘secret facelift’ is an alternative to a full facelift.
If you’re thinking of using face treatments to look younger, but worry about taking time off work or going under general anesthesia, this might be for you.
It requires only local anesthetic, and you can return to work the next day. No bandages or sick leave necessary.
The big upshot of this is that the procedure is subtle. You can go out the next day looking fresher, in a way others can’t quite put their finger on.
2. EVLA
Cosmetic procedures for treating varicose veins have never been easier than they are now.
Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) is used to ‘close’ the faulty veins so that healthy veins can take over and get that blood pumping.
This is a non-invasive plastic surgery, and the entire procedure only takes about an hour!
3. Cryolipolysis
Perhaps the most impressive of the non-surgical cosmetic procedures on this list, this service selectively freezes fat cells.
Then, your body’s natural processes remove the now-dead cells, leading to targeted fat loss anywhere you want!
Best of all, since the weight will ‘melt away’ on its own over a short period of time, no one will suspect a thing. Of the treatment trends we’ve seen this year, this has to be the most exciting.
4. Treatment Trends Include More Non Surgical Options Than Ever
Another big change, according to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, is less surgery.
Increasing numbers of people are trying minor cosmetic procedures such as lip injections, scar removal, and more.
According to their survey, this is because of a focus on a more ‘natural look’ meaning no more giant boobs and shiny faces.
Instead, customers are seeking more subtle adjustments such as a slight recontouring of the ear.
5. A Brave New World
The field of cosmetic treatments adapts beautifully (no pun intended) to customers’ ever more specific needs, using increasingly advanced techniques.
There’s no way to know what the future holds, but if things continue as they have, it’s safe to assume we’ll see offerings that will be even more tailored to the individual, rather than trying to bring everyone towards a single standard of beauty.
After all, the largest treatment trends over the last five years have been a move towards a more natural look.
So if you’ve been put off of plastic surgery because of fear of getting stuck with the ‘plastic look’ that was so prevalent in the late ’90s, worry not! The time is right now more than ever.
