Worked great out of the box. Noticed that some of the midrange gears were jumping. After flipping it over and running the chain I realized that the cable needed a slight adjustment.

It’s simple to do, just turn the peddles and watch how the chain is running over the gears. The end of the cable (near the derailer) can be turned in/out to get the chain exactly in the middle of the gear.

I have had the bike for less than a week, but it has been great for me so far! I was able to get the bike on sale for well less than MSRP and couldn’t be happier. It provides features with comparable specs to REI’s Co-op cycles DRT 1.1, but is able to offer it with the addition of 29″ tires. Assembly was simple compared to bikes I’ve bought from

The only steps required were installation of handlebars, front disc brake caliper, seat post, pedals, and adjustment of derailleurs (an assembly guide can be downloaded from Raleigh’s website). Total time required was less than 1 hour.

I take self-supported bike tours all over North America, but I had resisted purchasing a mountain bike. When Amazon had a one day sale which allowed me to grab this bicycle for $337, I jumped on the deal.

Assembling the bike was very easy and took me a bit over an hour … a goodly amount of that time was tweaking the bike for my body size. Assembly only involved attaching the handlebars, front tire and seat post. I am 6 feet 2 inches tall and ordered the 22 inch extra large frame which was a good decision.

I bought this bike over a year ago and have used it regularly as a trail bike in San Diego. For anyone who subscribes to the theory of gradually upgrading a bike (and is curious about fat bikes), this bike is a good candidate. The essential bones: frame, wheels, tubes, tires and seat have stood up to regular use on rocky trails and steep fire roads.

I like this bike so much that I treated it to a brand new Kenda Juggernaut rear tire. Most of the stock components were not to my liking, but for the price, I was happy to upgrade parts from my spare parts bin (I realize not everyone has one of these).

However I still got their other one, which I bought a while back in 2014! At first when I went for a looooong distance ride, it performed very perfectly, with responsive steering, great shocks, and awesome brakes. However, when I exited out of the bike trail to take a shortcut on the dirt road, the shocks worked very well.

Until I rode over the thorns, flattened the tires, which I had to walk 4 hours back to my place. Over the years, when some parts break down, I mostly replaced a LOT of parts, such as the following: brake discs, tires with tubing, handle bars, rear shocks (just keep the socket bolt) and the seats for more effective performance and custom looks, that I get numerous of compliments, when riding often loooooong distances, 50+ miles north and south of SLC. (i.e. Provo and Ogden, Utah.)

For the money you won’t find a more rideable mtb right out of the box. The geometry is what I would consider an aggressive XC with a slightly slacker Headtube angle. Hydraulic brakes work well and are something you don’t see at this price point. Greater starter bike for someone who is unsure if they will get into the sport or not. If you are already an avid rider, I would go for a higher tier model as the fork and drivetrain are extremely entry level.

The bike is light and very fun to ride. I still cant believe i paid so little for such a great bike. Definitely worth the money!
