He is Sourav Dass, who had been duping forex dealers for last several months. The 28-year-old Dass was arrested at the complaint of Sanjay Dutt Sharma, the field executive of a foreign exchange firm who was duped of $5,000.
The modus operandi for committing such financial crime was unique as Dass would rent offices at posh commercial areas like Connaught Place on hourly basis, and then asked foreign exchange companies to deliver money to his ‘office’.
He would move out with the currency bags on the pretext of getting them checked, requesting the forex executives to wait in office.
According to Police, the accused has confessed to his crime but did not give details of his past involvements. Dass told police that he had begun cheating foreign exchange dealers in 2015 after he met a Russian who possibly partnered with him in several cases.
