How This Video Is Changing Gender Stereotypes! Salute To Womanhood, International Women’s Day

March 8th, 2016   |   Updated on August 26th, 2020

Every year on March 08,  we celebrate International Women’s Day to acknowledge acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

Saluting Womanhood, this award-winning video is changing gender stereotypes and male chauvinism to create a more equal world.

This ad has also earned the appreciation of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg who shared the ad on her personal Facebook page. She says, “This is one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen – showing how stereotypes hurt all of us and are passed from generation to generation.” She concludes, “The real win is the way they are changing stereotypes and showing that a more equal world would be a better world for all of us.”

Produced by BBDO India for Ariel, the commercial won a #GlassLion at the 2015 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for the following work on this campaign.
