Glamorous in a rainbow of colourful hats, bright shift dresses and towering heels, the ladies were out in force as Ladies Day got underway at Newmarket races. Without a strict Ascot-esque dress code in place, women used the day out as an excuse to don a medley of bold fashion looks, including a feathered visor hat and a series of carnival-inspired get-ups.
Ladies opted for some daring and demure fashion choices on the first day of the Crabbie’s Grand National Festival. Women were asked to dress to a sophisticated Chanel-inspired dress code, but some couldn’t help but flash a little flesh on the opening day at Liverpool’s Aintree racecourse. And while many revellers seemed happy to stick to the strict new style code issued by race bosses for the second year running other were a little more risque with their fashion choices.
Some women came kitted out in the latest fashion and many opted for demure midi dresses and stand-out fascinators. While others wore more revealing dresses with plunging necklines.
High-spirited ladies donned their finery for Ladies Day at the equestrian event and sheltered under colourful umbrellas and makeshift rain macs as they found themselves caught in a downpour as the event got underway. Luckily for the gaggle of glamorous ladies, who donned vibrant headgear and a melange of bold summer frocks, the weather brightened up into the afternoon, allowing the ladies to kick back and relax in style.
The well-heeled fillies were seen enjoying pink champagne as they enjoyed the meet. The female racegoers certainly pulled out all the sartorial stops, dressing to impress as they battled it out for prizes on the Ebor Fashion Lawn. Most flaunted their bare, tanned legs in dresses, though one was seen wearing a smart black trouser suit and a frilly-sleeved black leather jacket. Others wore elegant fitted shift dresses, with one opting for a safe plain white design with a fitted nude jacket, while another chose a busy floral print, accessorising with a string of pearls.
