Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuary is sited on the Mysore – Ooty road. It is considered as one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in India. The park was set up in 1931 by the Maharaja of Mysore City. It is situated at the foot of the Nilgiri Hills. One can visit the park in the month of April and October. The sanctuary is famous for Project Tiger, and there are more than 200 types of birds. Mudumalai National Park in Tamil Nadu, Nagarhole National Park located in the north-west and Wynad Wildlife Sanctuary of Kerela are the neighbors to the Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuary.
