Located in the west side of the Jama Masjid, This was the first wholesale market of the old Delhi area. Main items sold here are the products made of Brass, Copper and Paper. This area was famous for the Tawaif culture in the early 19th century and after that, upper floors of the market was occupied by the Prostitutes. Delhi municipal committee evicted them from this area and thus restoring the old market. This place got its name from the Marathi word Chawri meaning meeting place. Small Sabha or gathering was used to organize here to settle the disputes of the people. Visitors have to travel through the narrow streets of the bazar to purchase useful items like jewelry boxes, vases, pots, oil lamps and idol of Lord Vishnu, Buddha and others.
