Also known as The National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum, This museum is managed by the Government of India under the Ministry of Textile. Spread in a huge complex on Bhairon Road near Pragati Maiden, this museum houses numerous craft work both traditional and creative ranging from Terracotta Horses, Pottery, Wood Carvings, Metal-ware Crafting, Image and Toys Sculpturing, Folk paintings, Tribal Textiles and Handmade jewelry from states and villages all over India.Constructed using the typical Indian Village style architecture, this museum came into existence post-independence in 1972, when the government felt the need to preserve the fading traditional arts and craft work by establishing projects to develop and exhibit them. There is also a Research and Documentation centre which has a collection of over ten thousand booksbased on the Indian Crafts, Arts and Textile Industry, which is open for all the visitors.
