Fatehpur Sikri

Agra, India

Also called as the “Ghost City”, the FatehpurSikri was built by Akbar in the 16th century. The place was named after a saint to whom Akbar went to get blessings when he was left with no heir. After he had got three sons, he renamed the place as FatehpurSikri which also means the “City of Victory”. One can find that the structures are somewhat related to those that are seen in Mecca and also that the architectural style is a perfect blend of the Mughal and the Hindu style.
