Hindola Torana

Vidisha, India

Torana means an ornamental entrance arch that leads to the ruins of a large Temple either of Vishnu or Trimurti. With two upright pillars and cross-beam, the entrance if this building resembles a ‘hindola’ (swing). Ten incarnations of Vishnu can be seen inscribed on the pillars. It is an example of unique architecture in Central India.
