It is the current residence of the royal Scindia family in Gwalior. There are more than 35 rooms in this regal palace. If you really want to see the past come alive and get a taste of royalty, then this palace is a must-visit. Tuscan and Corinthian architecture have been brought together to bring this place to life. Two large chandeliers are fitted on the ceiling of the central Darbar Hall. Historically it has been said that the strength of this roof was tested with the strength of ten elephants!
Room service has been taken to an entirely new level in this palace, as a silver train with glass wagons to serve guests chugs on miniature rails. Silver dinner pieces and swords, believed to be used by Mughal emperors Shahjahan and Aurangzeb can be seen.
Some of the personal mementoes of earlier members are also present. These include the jewelled slippers of Chinkoo Rani, gifts from almost every country of the world, several hunting trophies and portraits. You can also take a journey through the past by visiting the Scindia museum here.
