Along with the upper lake, the lower lake forms Bhoj wetland. Lower lake is also commonly referred to as chhota talaab. It is believed to have been commissioned by Chhote Khan, a minister in the Darbar of Nawab Hayat Muhammad Khan Bahadur. The lake does not have a fresh water source, but instead receives seepage from the Upper Lake. The water of this lake receives a lot of pollution and is unfit for drinking.
