Situated in Jaipur House near India Gate, this museum The Museum was inaugurated on 29th March 1954 by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the former Vice President of India and attended by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and Artist and other Art enthusiasts of Delhi.The concept of building a Gallery of Modern Arts came across to Jawaharlal Lal Nehru and other leaders, so as to have a hub to promote and showcase the vast modern Art of India spanning over the last 150 years. On display here are the masterpieces of some legendry artists like Emily Eden, Tilly Kettle and Thomas Daniell and also a wide range of native artists of 19th Century and early 20th Century. The complex also has a Library having a collection of books, photographs and other audio and visual items available for reference, listening, watching and reading purposes. Postcards, Pictures, Posters, Catalogues and many other items are also available here to be purchased by the visitors.
