Situated near the Purana Quila, This is 176-acre zoo having about 1350 animals of 130 species of animals and birds from around the world. Tourists can see wild animals like chimpanzee, hippopotamus, spider monkey, African wild buffalo, Giraffes, Gir lion, Zebras, Hyenas, Jaguars and migratory birds like peafowl. There is also an underground reptile house. Conservation breeding programs by the Central Zoo Authority for the royal Bengal Tiger, Indian Rhinoceros, SwampDeer, Asiatic lion, Brow Antlered Deer and red jungle fowl is also carried out here. The Kos Minar which was built in 16th century by Sher Shah Suri and completed by Mughal Rulers, and used as a milestone for travelling guide, can also be seen at the Delhi Zoo.
