Saundatti is yet another one of the oldest towns in Belgaum, which had been the capital of the Ratta clan before they shifted to Belgaum. The major places of attraction in this town are the Saundatti Fort, and many Temples present here.
The fort which was built in the eighteenth century and is one of the most beautiful and grand forts. It also houses a Temple with beautiful geometrical carvings. There are numerous Temples present in Saundatti that can be visited for both devotional and esthetic reasons such as Yallammagudda Temple, Puradeshwara Temple, and Kalika Devi Temple, etc.There is also a dam here, on the river Malaprabha, which gives rise to a reservoir by the name of Renuka Sagar.
