Sirsi is a serene town with its terracotta-tiled houses, Jain and ancient Hindu Temples. Marikamba Temple, which is dedicated to a wooden deity believed to be found inside a tank, was constructed in the 16th century. The Temple hosts a Car Festival once every two years. Near Sirsi is a forest said to have been visited by the Pandavas. There are also Sahasra Linga (a thousand lingas) carved from a rock bed in the middle of a river.
