lying near the Turkman Gate in old Delhi, this tomb is of the first Muslim woman ruler of Delhi. Jalalat-ud-din Raziya was the daughter of Sultan Shams-ud-din Iltutmish, the fourth Mamluk Sultan of Delhi. Razia Sultan used to take part in state affairs and also assist his father. Shams-ud-din Iltutmishannounced that Razia would ascend the Throne but the Muslim Nobilities opposed this and after the death of the Sultan,Raziya’s brother, Ruk-ud-din Feroze Shah was voted as the new Ruler of Delhi. But he was assassinated and hence Razia became the Ruler. She was one of the most powerful rulers of the Delhi Sultanate and also a shrewd politician. After her death her Tomb lies in the in MohallaBulbuliKhananear the Turkman Gate in Old Delhi.
