Tomb of Safdarjung

New Delhi, India

This tomb was built in the memory of MirzaMuqimAbul Mansur Khan, also known as Safdarjung, who was the Prime Minister of Mughal Empire when Ahmad Shah Bahadur was the ruler in 1748. This structure is a sandstone and marble mausoleum having domes and arches in red brown and white colors. The architectural style followed while building this tomb is about same as the style of Humayun Tomb. This tomb has Charbagh garden plan with the tomb at the center, a nine fold floor plan, five part portico and a big podium with a hidden stairway. There is a garden surrounding the tomb which is built in Mughal charbagh garden style and has an area of 2952 Sq Ft. and also has water channels.
