In case you’re lucky enough to have your own backyard, it would be a shame to leave it unused. With just a bit of effort, you could turn it into a haven that you can go to whenever you need to relax or when you want to entertain your guests.
In case you’re short of ideas, here’s how you can do just that.
1. Design The Layout
Your backyard should be cleverly used, meaning you need to consider every inch of the space. First of all, the backyard layout should include a sitting area. You need a place to feel comfortable where you could even have a nap if you feel like it. It’s also important for entertaining the guests.
If you want to have a BBQ grill, consider whether to set it apart a bit so that the guests don’t inhale too much smoke. In case you want to take it to a higher level, then an outdoor kitchen would be a perfect place for your guests to mingle. Just make sure you have enough space for it in the backyard.
2. Build A Fire Ring
Get a true center for your family gatherings by building a fire ring in your backyard. Whether you’ll cook on it while chatting with your guests, have a jam session like you’re camping or simply spend a romantic evening gazing at the stars, this is what you need. In case you want a long-lasting solution, go for a brick fire-pit – it will also create a much stronger effect.
3. DIY A Garden Arbor
There should always be a spot in the backyard where a person (or more of them) can find a retreat from the others. A garden arbor will provide them just that.
Building it can be quite fun, too. The main structure reminds of an old-fashioned timber frame, while a circular saw and handsaw will be enough to seal the deal. A couple of hours and you’ll get yourself a quiet, isolated spot for getting rid of the stress.
4. Get A Bowling Set
Bowling is a wonderful outdoor game for warm days. Your backyard doesn’t have to be huge to play it, and you’ll definitely manage to get everyone included in the game. Buy wooden pins, as they look really beautiful and last longer.
5. Outdoor Theater
Have a movie night in the backyard, under the starry sky. It’s not too complicated at all – just sett up a screen or even a sheet, place comfy pillows in front of it on the grass or the patio, add some warm blankets or reclining chairs and you’re ready to go.
6. Shade The Deck
A backyard is useless if you can’t spend time in it on a really hot, sunny day or when it’s raining. If you have a deck, you need a smart solution to shade it in the right way.
To be comfortable in any weather, consider an outdoor area design and build suitable for your needs. For example, a pergola or an opening roof may be just what you need.
7. Hanging Lights
Any entertainment area should be lit up appropriately, and hanging lights have that festive spirit necessary for an outdoor area such as a backyard.
No matter whether you have a gazebo, a canopy, a deck or simply a couple of trees inside the backyard, they can be decorated with twinkling lights. We all need a bit of magic, right?
8. Garden Lanterns
Garden lanterns are aa perfect decoration for a birthday party or a garden party. Since they usually come in multiple colors, they can fit int any decor or setting. Whether you are organizing a Halloween party or a romantic evening, you can’t go wrong with them.
9. Garden Hammock
Few people don’t care about lying in a hammock, simply relaxing while feeling it gently swinging. You will amaze your guests if you get a hammock, especially the kids. Even when there’s no one in the backyard beside you, you can curl up in it with a good book.
10. Swing Bed
In case you don’t have stronger trees to hold a garden hammock, this is a great alternative. A swing bed can be placed within the sitting area and is a great way to provide your guests with comfortable, yet entertaining seating. If you place it facing the backyard, the guests can even enjoy the view.
As you can see, it’s not difficult to provide backyard entertainment; you just need a bit of creativity and the will to look for the right items.
For the backyard to be truly amazing, you only need a couple of right items and maybe one or two DIY or professional projects in it – and your backyard is open for parties!
