Mukta Barve was born on May 17, 1979 at Chinchwad in Pune. Her father worked for a telecom company while her mother taught at school; Mukta has one brother named Debu Barve. Mukta Barve made her acting debut in a Marathi play at age 10. She made her acting debut in the Marathi play “Ghar Tighancha Asava.”
