There are two types of hypertension identified as the primary or essential hypertension and secondary hypertension, both describe different-different causes of hypertension.
The primary blood pressure develops gradually over time, while the secondary blood pressure develops suddenly due to underlying conditions.
Some of the causes and conditions leading to secondary hypertension include alcohol abuse, off the counter drug use such as cocaine and amphetamines, use of some of the medications like pills for cold, decongestants, some prescription drugs and over the counter pain relievers.
