“We are what we think” – the statement said by Buddha confirms the fact that our life is made of our habits and positive thoughts bring positive results. That’s why it is so important to choose the positive way of thinking and make an optimistic attitude to life.
So the power of positive thinking is known as a disseminating concept proved by multiple scientific studies and today it even sounds like a little cliché.
But positive thinking doesn’t mean to look at the world through the rose-tinted glasses or deceive yourself believing that everything is fine while complete chaos prevails in real life.
Positive thinking isn`t just blind optimism. The positive way of thinking means a mindset that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results.
Positive thoughts, positive mind, positive life are related and interrelated concepts. Positive people anticipate happiness, success and health. Such people believe that they can overcome any difficulties and obstacles of life.
Positive thinking is one of the distinguishing features of self-perfection because a positive person sees things as they are, but with the difference that, however, difficult the situation may be, he or she remains optimistic about development and success.
With the positive attitude to life, you experience just happy and pleasant feelings. This brings brightness to your world, makes you more energetic and active, gives you more confidence and improves your mood. You walk tall, your voice becomes more powerful and body language demonstrates the way you feel.
Moreover, according to a new study from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, an optimistic outlook on life may also help people live longer.
The study figured out that women who were positive had a significantly decreased risk of dying from such leading causes of mortality as heart disease, cancer, respiratory disease, stroke, and infection over an eight-year period, compared with women who were less optimistic.
The scientists found a link between positive thinking and the main factors that may affect mortality risk, including race, high blood pressure, diet and physical activity.
So using the power of positive thinking you can upgrade your thoughts, dramatically change the way you live and even extend your life for a few years.
1. How To Think More Positively
If you`re going to turn your mind towards the positive, you have to understand that your thoughts and attitude don`t change overnight and some inner work is required.
2. Practice Positive Self-Talk
Many people talk to themselves, thus, programming themselves on a very concrete result in advance. So it would be better to use positive words in your inner dialogues focusing only on the positive results.
3. Avoid Negative Thoughts
When a negative thought enters your mind, you should be aware of it and endeavor to replace it with a positive one. It is as if you have two pictures in front of you and you can choose to look at one of them, ignoring the other.
If you learn to look at the right picture, you can teach your mind to think positively and to overlook negative thoughts.
4. Use Positive Imagination
Don`t forget that imagination creates your reality. Use it to visualize only favorable and beneficial situations and events.
5. Smile A Lot
Try to smile a little more because this helps you to feel happier and, of course, think positively.
6. Use Positive Affirmations And Inspirational Quotes
These useful techniques are similar to creative visualization and really help to think more positively. The regular repetition of positive affirmations or inspirational quotes blocks negative thoughts and encourages a positive attitude.
7. Find The Humor In Bad Situations
Allow yourself to mistake. Turn failures into the lessons of life and experience humor more often in your life, even in unfortunate situations. Keep in mind, any such situation will probably make a good story later and try to joke about it.
8. Take Note Of Positive Moments Every Day
One more successful method of improving your positive thinking is noticing the positive things that happen in your everyday life. Such notes will help you focus on the good things that happen in your life.
9. Surround Yourself With Positive People
When just positive friends and colleagues surround you, you`ll hear positive stories, affirmations and outlooks. These optimistic works and talks will sink in and influence your own way of thinking. Of course, finding positive people to fill up your life can`t be easy, but you have to get out the negativity of your life before it consumes you.
10. Have Great Expectations
If you don’t expect something great happens in your life, you can`t recognize it when it does. You need to believe that your greatest days are ahead of you, not behind you. Don`t regret your past, you can’t change anything. Focus on the present and believe in your successful future.
