5 Ideas For Celebrating A Birthday In Quarantine

Published on August 25th, 2020

While nationwide lockdown and quarantine measures around the world might have been relaxed in most places, some people are still choosing to stay indoors for their own good.

Whether you are in a high-risk category for COVID-19 or are self-isolating after potentially being exposed to the virus, a birthday in quarantine doesn’t have to be as boring as it might sound.

In fact, there are several things that you can do to enjoy your birthday at home, and your quarantine birthday could be the best birthday ever.

1. Host A Zoom Party

Quarantining on your own? Don’t worry, there are plenty of apps and programs that you can use to make sure that you can still have a party with all of your friends.

Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp Video or Skype are all excellent choices that allow you to have a group video chat with your friends and get together without being there in person.

Get some music from one of the best new live streaming apps, get some drinks in, and have some fun with your friends right there in your living room without having to break your quarantine.

2. Family Party

If you are quarantining at home with your family, it’s a great way to spend more time with them on your birthday, especially if you tend to go out on birthdays and do things with your friends instead.

You can plan a big family party at home; if you have a nice outdoor space and the weather is going to be nice, a family barbecue could be an ideal way to spend your birthday in quarantine.

3. Do Something For Yourself

Are you spending your birthday in quarantine alone and don’t feel like partying or speaking to all your friends on video chat? That’s perfectly valid too.

Remember that your birthday is your day, so as long as you do something that you enjoy, you don’t have to get anybody else involved if you don’t want to.

If you’re working from home, clear your schedule and spend the day doing things that make you happy – whether that’s watching your favorite movies or TV show, curled up with a good book, arts and crafts, gaming, or spending some time outdoors in nature if you are permitted to.

4. Treat Yourself

There was nothing like quarantine to get everybody turning to online shopping, and when national lockdowns hit, eCommerce stores across the world saw a huge boom.

If there’s something that you feel would make your quarantine birthday a lot better if you had it, now’s the time to treat yourself and feel great about it.

If you’re high-risk and don’t want to accept gifts for fear of contamination, you could ask your family and friends to transfer money straight to your bank account instead of buying you something, so you’ve got more to treat yourself with.

5.Try Something New

If you want to start reinventing yourself this birthday as you start a fresh year of your life, there are plenty of new things that you can get started with while you are in quarantine.

Whether you’ve wanted to try something for a very long time and simply haven’t found the time to get around to starting it, or a friend has told you recently about a hobby that you quite like the sound of, there are plenty of fun online classes and courses that you can turn to and teach yourself a new skill on your birthday, whether you want to paint a gorgeous picture or become a cocktail mixing master.

If you’re spending your birthday in quarantine, it doesn’t have to be a boring day. Whether you’d rather celebrate with family and friends or prefer to enjoy some quiet self-care time on your birthday, you can do whatever you like.
