Mark Bauer said of this beautiful picture: ‘This tree-lined avenue near Badbury Rings in Dorset is a magnificent sight, with over 600 beech trees lining the road as it rises and falls over small hills along its route – on foggy mornings, such as this, it looks particularly atmospheric. I chose a viewpoint where the road disappeared into the fog over the brow of a hill, and a longish focal length to compress perspective, making the trees appear almost on top of each other. Polarizers work especially well in these conditions, removing the sheen from foliage and saturating colour, so I used one for this shot’
