Ross Hoddinott said of this image he took in Dorset: ‘Mist simplifies the landscape – obscuring detail and reducing it to a series of layers. This little group of conifers, growing atop Colmer’s Hill, is an obvious hotspot for photography. The conditions were just lovely on the morning I took this, with the trees just poking up above the sea of mist. The tones prior to sunrise are naturally cool – and the muted hues appealed to my aesthetic instincts’
