On Tuesday evening, a substantial number of Instagram users encountered disruptions with the app. Downdetector noted over 800 problem reports shortly after 5 p.m. ET.

Users expressed frustration over malfunctioning sound in stories and reels, along with encountering messages displaying “audio unavailable” and “song not available.”

These problems emerged following an earlier wave of Instagram users experiencing difficulties accessing the app earlier in the day.

However, around 7 p.m., the volume of user reports began to decrease, indicating a potential resolution of the issue.

Downdetector’s latest heat map depicts user-reported problems’ concentration in the past 24 hours.

While occasional reports are typical throughout the day, the count has surged past 950 by 9 AM EST.

Downdetector clarifies, “An incident is reported when problem submissions significantly surpass the usual volume for that time of day.”

Users Encounter App Issues

A substantial 65% of users are currently facing difficulties with the app.

Around 28% of users are encountering problems with the website, while an additional 7% are grappling with feed-loading issues.

As of September 12th at 08:47, there have been user reports indicating that the service is either experiencing downtime or is currently unavailable.

At 9:05 AM (IST), Instagram users voiced concerns on X and Reddit, reporting delayed or missing notifications. Some also mentioned being unable to view earlier notifications, only recent ones.

Social media platforms Instagram and Facebook experience outage, Meta resolves issue

On Tuesday, popular social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, owned by Meta Platforms, faced a global outage. Users reported encountering issues such as inability to refresh their Instagram feeds and prompts to change their passwords.

Meta acknowledged the problem, stating through spokesperson Andy Stone on X social media that they were aware of users facing difficulties and were working to resolve the issue.

Outage tracking website confirmed the widespread outage, reporting over 600,000 outage reports for Facebook and over 500,000 for Instagram.

Fortunately, the services were restored around 10 pm. Meta later apologized for the inconvenience caused, explaining that a “technical issue” had been the culprit behind the outage.

Outage tracking website indicates a surge in Instagram app outage reports at 6.30 AM today, March 22nd.

Reports from Insider Paper suggest login issues affecting users worldwide, with data showing 70% of users experiencing login problems, 19% facing app issues, and 11% encountering server connection errors.

It appears Instagram is currently experiencing an outage. Many users are reporting issues loading the app, and Downdetector is also indicating problems with Instagram.

Update 6 [ 15 May 2024 ]

There were reports of outages affecting Meta services, including Facebook and Instagram, on Wednesday. These outages caused inconveniences for some users, but it’s important to note that not everyone was impacted.

The problems started around 7 pm EST, according to Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages. Users reported issues with Instagram, Facebook, and Threads (another Meta-owned app). While Threads wasn’t included in initial reports, it seems to have been affected as well.

Many users took to Downdetector and other platforms (like X) to express concerns about the outage. Some Instagram users even saw an error message saying “Something went wrong.” Unfortunately, the exact number of people affected remains unknown.
