It was supposed to be the least controversial thing imaginable — a cute photo of a child. But Ivanka Trump got it all wrong.
Once again, Ivanka Trump faces a storm of online criticism for tweeting a photo of herself snuggling with her youngest son, Theodore.

Ivanka’s tweet rapidly generated nearly 25,000 comments, many of which slammed her for her “tone deaf” sentiment amid emerging reports of immigrant families being separated at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Twitter users pointed out that her father, President Donald Trump, has overseen a tightening of immigration policy that has split families apart.
Reports emerged earlier this month that U.S. border agents have been authorized to separate children from parents who have crossed the border illegally and place them in protective custody as family members face prosecution.
Americans are voicing their fury en masse.

Isn’t it the just the best to snuggle your little one — knowing exactly where they are, safe in your arms? It’s the best. The BEST. Right, Ivanka? Right? https://t.co/X79r8aWInc

.@IvankaTrump, you are lucky to hold your son while 1500 mothers cannot, because your father ripped their children away under a vicious policy that he created.

This in the midst of children being ripped from their parents at the border because of her father and administration. Do these people have any capacity of anything other than being incredibly self-absorbed? https://t.co/5g8UIZIVP8

Your father sent children your son’s age into the arms of human traffickers. Your level of cognitive dissonance is appalling. https://t.co/UezsqZXjPv

Celebrities including Jim Carrey, Jessica Chastain and Mia Farrow have shared their disgust at the news of the huge number of missing kids, some as young as two years old.
1500 innocent children ripped from their mothers’ arms at our border. Lost in Trump’s “system”. Give us your tired, your poor, your huddle masses yearning to breathe free — and we will torture them for wanting a better life. From Shining City to Evil Empire in under 500 days. pic.twitter.com/Qg07vb0aBg

This is disgusting. This is a stain on America. This is not who we are.
And given that Trump’s agencies have LOST more than 1,470 CHILDREN since this barbaric practice began, there can be NO EXCUSE made as to what “purpose” this policy serves. Horrific. https://t.co/qq73NGyArL

I don’t understand how anyone could work for @ICEgov. ICE’s policy of separating children from their families under the Trump administration is not only un-American, it’s inhumane.
Call 1-866-DHS-2-ICE and ask them #WhereAreTheChildren?
