It doesn’t matter if you are creating an informational video for your business or animated videos to grow brand awareness, making sure the final product looks professional should be a top priority.
While videos are an extremely effective way to spread your message to the masses, they have to provide some value and seem like a quality product to garner any attention.
Video is powerful. In fact, it accounts for more than 73% of all traffic online. What this means is that if someone is online, they are likely watching a video.
Creating a quality video is key to ensuring it is not only viewed, but liked, shared, and remembered. If you are new to video making, now is the time to improve your skills. Here are some tips to creating videos that your audience will love.
Plan the Video You Want to Create
Did you know that the content of your video is more important than the quality? That does not mean that quality is not important – it is. But if you had to choose which one to focus your energy and time on, you should choose planning the content. There are a few things you can do to plan your content effectively.
One is to outline your goal. What is it that you want to achieve with the video you create? Do you want to inform, entertain, promote? Make sure you have defined your goal before you move on to the next step.
It is also necessary to determine who your target audience is. After all, your video can’t appeal to everyone. If you don’t have a clear vision of who you want to target with your video, your message will likely get lost. Once you know your audience, you can begin to create a script that will appeal to them.
Select the Right Background
The background you choose for your video depends on the type of video you are creating, your audience, and your goals. There are two basic options:
Real Backgrounds
With this option, you use real-life scenes, such as an office or an outdoor setting. Make sure it aligns with your message and there is a purpose for being in that location.
Simulated Backgrounds
This includes using green screens, papers, or curtains. They are a good way to achieve consistency, but hard to set up and not always a good option for beginners.
Don’t Purchase an Expensive Camera
When you are just starting out, you should not stress too much about the video camera you want to use. While you may feel like you need to spend a lot of money on a higher quality video camera, this is unnecessary. If you plan to make more videos in the future, you may eventually want to do this.
A great option for beginners is to simply use the camera on their phone – they are often a lot better than some of the cheaper camera options on the market.
Don’t Use the Mic on Your Camera
It is tempting to use an all-in-one-device, but this is not the best option. Instead, it would help if you used an external, dedicated audio recorder. This is the easiest and most reliable way to capture quality audio for your video.
Use Natural Lighting
It is a good idea to use natural lighting so that you create a cinematic and soft ambiance. Some of the top natural light options to consider include cloudy days, one hour after the sun comes up, and one hour before the sun goes down.
As you can see, there are many tips that will help you shoot amazing videos, even if you are just starting out. Be sure to keep these tips in mind as you capture your next video, for any purpose.
