Ion Exchange is right in softening water by removing limescale. In short, ion-exchange involves breaking and splitting the atoms in any contaminant thus making ions.
The ions are trapped giving room for clean water. The filters use sodium ions that are held by zeolite beads.
The beads trap impurities then change them with sodium ion. That means all the calcium and magnesium ions are removed from the water making your water sweet.
It is the easiest way of purifying water, and it can be done without using too many devices.
It involves boiling water to get steam which is then condensed back to water. Boiling kills all the germs.
Other impurities like heavy metals will remain in the container when water evaporates.
