Google is set to retire Google Podcasts by the end of March, with users having until July 2024 to export or migrate their subscriptions.
To facilitate this transition, Google is introducing a migration tool. In the Google Podcasts app, users can find the “Export subscriptions” option at the top of the screen.
The steps to follow include selecting “Export” under “Export to YouTube Music,” then choosing “Transfer” in the YouTube Music app, and finally selecting “Continue.”

After the transfer, users can view their subscriptions in the Library. The process may take a few minutes, and for podcasts unavailable on YouTube Music, a “Content is unavailable” message will be displayed.
If users prefer migrating to a podcast app other than YouTube Music, Google supports downloading via an OPML file or Google Takeout.
Google Podcasts is being phased out as the company consolidates podcast listening within the YouTube Music app.
For those concerned about their listening history, Google has provided details on migrating Google Podcast subscriptions to YouTube Music or exporting them to other podcast apps.
The migration tool will be accessible through a banner at the top of the Google Podcasts app in the coming weeks.
Clicking on the “Export subscriptions” link will allow users to move their subscriptions to YouTube Music or export them as an OPML file.
Google emphasizes that many popular podcasts are already available on YouTube, and users can add shows to their YouTube Music library using the podcast RSS feed if their favorites are not present.
To encourage users to transition to YouTube Music, Google highlights improvements made to the podcast experience, including automatic downloads of episodes and enhanced discovery features for finding new content.
