Are you afraid that your work will be plagiarized by some copycat? You don’t have to. Online plagiarism checker software has almost finished this fearfulness. Now you can post anything online which is published under your name. In the recent past, this was not the case, copycats all over the world used to steal the original contents and reshuffle the content by copying and pasting to come up with a new version.

That, in fact, was so common that students at schools, colleges and universities began to copy articles and research material from the internet for their assignments, dissertations, and even the thesis. Exact cuttings from the original content were used. In those days there was no proper software or program was commonly available to check the authenticity and originality of the documents.

Keeping in view too much involvement of people in plagiarism and finding out shortcuts to complete their required tasks, many companies launched online plagiarism checker websites which offer great sources to track the originality of the content. You just have to copy the content that you need to check and paste it on the assigned box on the website. It’s just a click away, and you can get the complete details of the content, including links, URLs and even the highlighted lines from where the content has been picked up.

Such online plagiarism checker websites have attracted millions of visitors as they are providing great services to their customers. Many websites which have really strong detection software even charge high as they provide exclusive services to their client to find out the minutest plagiarized content. Some websites which charge a few bucks on the monthly or yearly basis, also offer basic versions of plagiarism checkers.

Through such basic versions, you can come up to know the URLs of the websites from where the content is being copied. Furthermore, these basic versions offer a top ten list of the URLs from where the content has been potentially copied.

Review: Capterra

Pros: It is super easy to use. You just copy/paste an article into the textbox, hit the button “Premium Search” and it will instantly tell you if your content is original or not.

I have had hundreds of freelance workers producing content for me over the years. More than half of them have tried to submit content with huge sections they blatantly stole from other websites. So having this tool, has saved me a lot of hassle and money.

Cons: It is a bit expensive. Yes, I save money by not paying for plagiarized content, but it runs up when you bulk check content. For a single website or a content writer, this would not be a huge problem, but I seem to have to pull out my credit card way too often.

I was interested in trying out their CopySentry function as well, but it would be WAY too expensive.

Overall: I have run more than 100k articles through Copyscape over the last 10 years. I have tried to find a replacement, but I always run back to CopyScape. My volume these days is way lower though. But back in the heyday of Google Adsense sites, I ran a LOT of content through.

Review: PCWorld

Plagiarism is a scourge of the Internet age, so a free tool to check for student plagiarism sounds like a teacher’s dream come true. However, while the concept is exciting, the free version of PlagTracker is not yet reliable enough to be used with confidence.

PlagTracker works when the user pastes a school paper, or any other piece of writing up to 5000 words, into a text field at the PlagTracker.com site. Click Start Checking, and the service automatically compares the work with millions of web pages and scholarly articles.

Once a report is generated, click View All Sources to see the links where the allegedly plagiarized material resides. Clicking the link alone may not work; I had to click the icon at the far right of the link to open it.

Review: Microsoft

Before deciding upon a plagiarism checker I tested several and found this to be the best so far. One nifty feature is that you can add it to Word as an Add-on. The only reason I have given it 4 stars rather than 5 is that once you have used up your free word limit you have to pay either monthly or a fixed fee per number of words used and it is rather pricey. Hopefully worth it though for my uni degree.

What do you like best?

Unicheck has a clean interface, intuitive menus, and great customer support. Having previously used another service, it was impressive to see the attention given to simplicity while still offering the features a school needs for encouraging good writing and avoiding plagiarism. Furthermore, the costs associated with Unicheck services while still allowing the school retention of its documents in its own database(s) makes this service well worth consideration for any school.

What do you dislike?

Unicheck lacks some of the advanced editing/feedback offerings of more expensive services, but it is continually in development and many of those missed offerings are on the immediate roadmap.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Give the trial version of Unicheck a try to explore the interface and make sure the features offered meet your teachers’ needs. Ask lots of questions as you’ll get a good sense of the quality of customer service with Unicheck.
