Smartphones have literally taken over our lives. From email to listening to music or playing games everything happens smoothly.
If these days you think of having a day without a smartphone seems like an impossible task. To assist in the tasks you find multiple types of apps which can be used.
Texting apps are another method for you to get to talk with the people who are a part of your life. These texting apps are very useful when you need to pass on a quick message to someone.
However which texting app to consider remains a question to ponder as people are wary about the security involved.
To help in this decision we have brought together a list of The 10 Best Texting Apps for Android. With this collection you can read the analysis of each app and what makes it unique.
Later the choice can be made after considering the benefits of each app separately.
1. QKSMS
We’re making texting magical again. QKSMS is the most beautiful messaging experience you’ve ever used. Replace your stock messaging app and fall in love with texting all over again.
QKSMS is also completely ad-free and open source, the way your messaging app should be.
Review: Lifewire
A newer app, QKSMS is streamlined, with a nice-looking interface. Features include a blacklist, Android Wear compatibility, message prioritization, and night mode for darker environments. The app is powerful enough to share photos and stickers, and you can easily back up and restore messages.
2. Signal
Using Signal, you can communicate instantly while avoiding SMS fees, create groups so that you can chat in real time with all your friends at once, and share media or other files all with complete privacy. Signal’s servers never have access to any of your communication and never store any of your data.
Review: Cnet
For encrypted phone calls and text messaging, Signal offers the best combination of usability and security. Keep in mind that for the encryption to work, the people you message have to be using it as well. Facebook’s WhatsApp may match it for security…
3. Chomp SMS
Chomp comes with a bunch of great features, notably a passcode lock, privacy options, scheduled SMS sender (reminders, birthday wishes), stop a text while sending, pin favs to top, backup, blacklisting / SMS blocker, signatures, text snippets, quick reply popup (even on lock screen), multi-select picture gallery, dual sim, better MMS and GROUP messaging and much more.
Review: PlayStore
You have not fixed the security flaw I reported in February of 2019 whereby the security pattern can be bypassed by viewing the text with the popup notification. You aren’t really working on it, are you? You don’t intend to fix it, do you? If you don’t know how to do something, you should just admit it.
4. Textra SMS
Want a beautiful, super fast and highly customizable alternative to your stock Android messaging app?
Well, today is your day. Textra is simply outstanding!
Comes with a bunch of great features, notably 180+ material design theme, bubble & app icon colors. Dark, light & auto-night modes, multiple bubble styles, scheduled (future) SMS & MMS, stop during send, slide to delete, slide to call, quick snap camera, multi-select picture gallery, quick reply SMS popup, awesome MMS GROUP messaging, quick voice memos, GIFs, 21 text sizes, message blocker / blacklisting, pin-to-top, automatic video & picture compression, plus heaps more!
Review: Lifewire
If you love customization, you’ll love this app, which allows you to tweak the background, icon, notifications, and emoji and bubble styles. It also includes dark, light, and auto-night modes, stop during send, multi-select photo gallery, contact customization, and quick-reply popup, just to name a few. It’s compatible with Android Wear, Pushbullet, and MightyText for maximum efficiency.
5. Mood Messenger
The best-rated alternative to your default Android SMS & MMS App.
Simple, smooth and effective You can customize almost everything and you have access to awesome features like the typing indicator and real timer caller id.
If you are frustrated by the default Android texting app you must try Mood Messenger.
Review: PlayStore
I like this messaging app better than my regular app. Otherwise, I love this app. This app isn’t glitchy anymore since I’ve had this for a while. This doesn’t contain ads. This app is also good for searching messages. Edit: Sorry that I’m asking so many questions. But if u can and want to tell me what are the green check marks by the chat? What does the single and double check mark mean? Also what the no check mark means? Thanks.!
6. GroupMe
GroupMe – the free, simple way to stay connected with those who matter most. Family. Roommates. Friends. Coworkers. Teams. Greek Life. Bands. Faith Groups. Events. Vacations.
Review: Cnet
GroupMe is a group instant-messaging app designed to keep you connected with the various cliques in your social circle. Owned by Microsoft, it’s built a deserved reputation as a solid way to chat with multiple groups of friends at once, keeping everything organized.
Just note that there is some extra work involved. Unlike Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp, you must create dedicated groups for you and your friends to chat together. Still, GroupMe stands out with its playful features, including numerous packs of emoji, a GIF search engine, and the ability to turn the images you share into your very own memes.
7. Pulse SMS
Pulse SMS is a seriously beautiful, next-generation, text messaging app. Did we mention that Pulse is also the highest-rated messaging app on the Play Store?
Pulse SMS is completely free to use on your phone, we don’t collect or sell your data, and you will never see any ads. How’s that for top-notch user experience? We care deeply about your experience with the app, and believe that ads and shady data collection ruin that experience.
Review: ANDROID AUTHORITY
Pulse SMS is one of the most unique texting apps on the list. It’s like any standard SMS app for the most part. However, there is also a back end that will let you text from your PC, tablet, and other devices. Additionally, it also supports dual-sim devices, blacklisting phone numbers, message backup, and more. Here’s how it works. The texting app part of this is completely free. Those who want to also text from PCs, tablets, etc can either pay $0.99 per month or a lifetime fee of $10.99. It’s a good way to kill two birds with one stone.
8. Yaata SMS
YAATA is influenced by the true spirit of Android. It is an SMS/MMS app that has so much to offer. You can personalize and configure this app to your definition of the perfect app. YAATA SMS is very powerful, reliable and the speed of the app is on another level. Even with all the exciting features, this app has to offer the app size is under 3.9MB. This SMS app is highly user-friendly and fulfils the wants and needs of the ultimate geek to a basic beginner user.
Review: PlayStore
I went premium one year ago and never looked back. Customization is everything, however, the past 6 mos updates have brought numerous functionality problems & eliminated important features (says due to Google compliance) which I don’t understand if other apps still offer the same features, why can’t YAATA? Developer response has become nonexistent. There’s not an app on the market that comes close to what YAATA offers so I really hope the developer resolves these issues ASAP!
9. Signal Private Messenger
Using Signal, you can communicate instantly while avoiding SMS fees, create groups so that you can chat in real time with all your friends at once, and share media or other files all with complete privacy. Signal’s servers never have access to any of your communication and never store any of your data.
Review: ANDROID AUTHORITY
Signal Private Messenger is actually a messaging app much like Hangouts, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and others. The difference is that this one features end-to-end encryption and it’s been a favourite of many people who value security. It also works on a phone number system and if your contact doesn’t have the app then it simply sends a text message. We really liked how seamless that feature is. It’s simple to use, looks great with Material Design, and it is entirely free to use with no in-app purchases. It’s also open-source, supports group chats, and it’ll even make phone calls.
10. Handcent Next SMS
Handcent Next SMS 8.0 has arrived, bringing to you all kinds of new features, visual and stability improvements.
The best replacement android messaging app for your stock text messenger.
- Best SMS app with ultimate customization
- Tons of handy features to make your life easier
- Cloud back-up, never worry about long texts ever again
- Texting from computer
- Reliable guard to keep texts safe and secure
- Wear OS support, receive and reply from your android wear device
Review: ANDROID AUTHORITY
Handcent, along with Chomp SMS, were the first two really good, really popular third party texting apps available on Android. Much like Chomp SMS, Handcent is a powerful and heavy texting application with a ton of features. Some of them include themes, a privacy box to store private conversations, SMS backup, eCards, emojis, and plenty more. One of the more interesting features is Handcent Anywhere, which lets you text on your computer and tablet if you want. It’s had its ups and downs in terms of bugs, but it’s usually pretty solid.
