I’ve only started with the app and have some basic Japanese from other apps and self-study as well as a full version of Rosetta Stone. This has been by far the most user-friendly. Rosetta Stone is brutal where FluentU is gentle and fun while still teaching you. The ability to see the kana, kanji, and romaji is brilliant. Once you get your kana memorized well, you can turn off the romaji. I have high hopes for the long term of this app combined with formal college classes.
2. Duolingo
It’s fun. Learn by playing a game practice new words by doing quick lessons and answering questions daily.
It’s effective. 34 hours of Duolingo are equivalent to a semester of university-level education. Millions of students use Duolingo to study and learn in language classes at school!

I took Japanese in college and was always so terrible with vocab. I have forgotten so much and I’ve been wanting to get back into it, so I tried this app, and I feel like I know more vocab now than I did when I was taking classes! Drops make it simple and fun to learn and is perfect in conjunction with Duolingo or teaching yourself the grammar. I do have one issue with how Japanese words are ‘broken up’ when you have to spell them using the bubbles; I’m sure all words in all languages are broken up in the same way, but at least for Japanese it feels real off-putting because it goes against the way the Japanese alphabet is organized and how you should be pronouncing things properly.

This card is in my opinion excellent for the following reason. When I spend using the card it notifies me almost immediately on my phone that the card has been used along with the amount. If my card was used by someone else I would know right away. The exchange rate is without commission and the cash back is amazing. However there are some cons and these are as follows cards are for individuals only no joint applications and it will not work with Apple Pay.

I find it much better than Duolingo because it has my language, Croatian and I learn Turkish. With duolingo, I have to translate it to and from English, which I speak and write fluently, but they tend to complicate things and even native speakers of English disagree with their translations. So, Mondly is better for me.
