Hardik Pandya’s highly anticipated return to the Mumbai Indians has been successfully completed through a significant all-cash transaction. The 30-year-old all-rounder, who previously secured four titles with the franchise, is back in familiar territory.
In a strategic financial move, Mumbai Indians traded Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore in a separate all-cash deal amounting to INR 17.5 crore, reflecting the league value of the Australian all-rounder.
This maneuver not only paved the way for the Pandya trade with Gujarat Titans but also positioned the five-time champions with substantial resources for the upcoming IPL 2024 auction scheduled in Dubai on December 19.

The formal agreements have been reached among Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
These deals were finalized on the last day for releases and retentions for IPL 2024, November 26. Notably, there is no third player involved in both the MI-GT and MI-RCB transfers.
Insiders from the BCCI and IPL confirm that formal approval has been granted for these cash-only trades, although the specific transaction value remains undisclosed. Pandya’s league fee for the year is INR 15 crore.
The execution of these trades unfolded with some dramatic twists and turns as both Pandya and Green were initially listed as retained players by their original franchises – Gujarat and Mumbai.

Although the trading window is open until one week before the auction, these trades were concluded late on Sunday evening. Official announcements from the franchises and the BCCI regarding these transactions are expected soon.
