Alexander the Great was a famous king of the Kingdom of Macedon and a prominent member of the Argead dynasty. He was born in Pella in 356 BC, and he ascended his father Philip II to the throne when he was twenty. His initial ruling years started with a successful military campaign across Asia and Africa. Thus he created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, which reached up to India. He remained undefeated in war and therefore is one of history’s most successful commanders.
