We have had a great summer, and many of us have been out in our gardens more than ever before. Furthermore, we found that our backyard can be an extension of our home, and we can use it as an area to entertain our guests.
If you enjoy being in the great outdoors and want to make more use of your space, here are 3 ways to turn your garden into the perfect entertaining area.
1. Sumptuous Seating
A great entertaining area needs comfortable seating. Look for seating with brightly upholstered cushions to bring some color to the site.
Benches require long seat pads that will need to be stored away during the winter months, so you may want to find a company that provides outdoor cushion storage if you don’t have sufficient storage space. Doing this will ensure your seating stays looking brand new.
If you opt for bench or sofa seating, you will need a coffee table or a couple of side tables to put drinks and food on when entertaining. A full-height table and dining chairs are probably preferable for those who prefer a more civilized, sit-down meal.
2. Culinary Cooking
First-class entertainment requires top-notch cuisine. You may want to cook delicacies for your guests in your kitchen and bring them outside, but for some authentic asl fresco fayre, invest in some cooking devices to use outdoors.
Those with impeccable DIY skills could build a barbecue from bricks and wire shelves. You could have as many shelves as you want for cooking several different dishes and line the bottom of the construction with some nuggets of charcoal.
On the other hand, you may want to buy a ready-made barbecue. Store-bought outdoor cookers are fueled by either a gas bottle or charcoal.
Obviously, charcoal will give the food you cook an authentic smoky flavor, but you can purchase wood chips infused with fragrance that will provide a smoky taste for food cooked on a gas barbecue.
Pizza lovers will love outdoor pizza ovens that will cook the Italian delicacy in a matter of minutes. These brilliant gadgets are available in multi-fuel options, so you can use wood pellets to create a smoky Neapolitan pizza or opt for gas that will produce a perfect pizza in less than a minute.
3. Amazing Ambiance
Set up some Bluetooth speakers in your garden to bring some musical atmosphere to your soirées. You can stream music from your cell phone using an app such as Spotify or Amazon Music.
When entertaining guests in the evening, you could lighten things up with some attractive strings lights threaded through the branches of a tree or pinned to the fence. Place some candle tea lights around low walls and tabletops. Use citronella candles if you want to keep pesky insects at bay.
Glam up your outdoor area with a patterned outdoor rug and matching throw cushions. Use stylish plastic drinking vessels and tableware instead of paper plates and disposable cups.
On colder evenings, you could set up a fire pit or buy a gas-fueled patio heater to keep everyone cozy. You could even give everyone a soft throw blanket to cuddle up to.
There are loads of things you can do to make entertaining guests outside as enjoyable as it is indoors – just see your garden as an extra room in your home.
